Readercon 2013

I had a chance to attend Readercon today. It is the local Science Fiction writer’s convention here in Boston, held out at the Marriott in Burlington.

I heard some interesting sessions, including one on Economic systems and how they are portrayed in the Fantasy genre, and another on Utopias, providing some insight into why we see more works are not done in Utopias, and even if you intend to write in a utopia it may turn into a Dystopia.

I hope all attending are enjoying the convention. If one can judge the show’s success by how much the parking lot was filled, I’d say that this year had a very full attendance. I know the sessions I attended on Saturday afternoon had audiences that filled the rooms to capacity, or at least close to it.
